Open Door Work Experience Support Officer
City of Wolverhampton Council is committed to supporting more local people into good jobs and training. The Open Door work experience project is an innovative initiative designed to enable unemployed young people and adults to participate in structured work placements, with the ultimate aim of helping them secure employment. The placements will take place within key departments in the Council and a number of approved employers across the city, allowing local people to develop their skills and employment prospects.
Employment Details
* Salary: £30,024 – £33,699 (Grade 5)
* Hours: 37 per week
* Contract type: Full time, fixed term / secondment until 31 March 2026
* Work style: Flexible
* Enhanced DBS required
Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for candidates, employers, schools, colleges, and internal departments.
* Provide digital and face‑to‑face support throughout the work experience journey, including registration, onboarding, placement coordination, and post‑placement reviews.
* Build relationships, develop skills, and help participants gain confidence and move closer to employment.
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification relevant to the role.
* Previous experience of undertaking business support and administration tasks.
* Proven experience of communicating with people at all levels and with different abilities, cultures, and those where English is not the first language.
