Overview
We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join the enhanced learning team at Saint Felix School. The role will be to support pupils across the school, working both in lessons and in out of the classroom activities. This is a permanent role and would be for 35 hours per week across 5 days. Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for students aged from 2 to 18, located close to the seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast.

As a Learning Support Assistant, your main role is to provide support for pupils with special educational needs. You will help pupils integrate as fully as possible in activities undertaken by the class and make progress.
Responsibilities
* Provide learning support for pupils in class or in 1:1 settings
* Develop knowledge of the particular needs of the children and seek advice from the SENDCo, class teachers and outside agencies as required
* Aid access to the full range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required (e.g., worksheets, games, visual prompt cards)
* Modify resources as suggested by the SENDCo, Educational Psychologist or other outside agencies
* Organise and maintain an inclusive learning environment across the school
* Provide positive reinforcement, praise and rewards to pupils
* Facilitate inclusion in small group activities and support interaction between pupils
* Attend in-service training and relevant meetings to stay up to date with developments in working with children with special educational needs
Qualifications and experience
* Have GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English
* Have training in aspects of SEND (e.g., dyslexia, autism)
* Have experience of working with children with special educational needs in a school setting
* Have knowledge and understanding of the social, emotional, cultural and physical needs of pupils
* Have an interest in how children learn and behave
* Be able to provide appropriate role models of behaviour in the classroom and around the school
