Southend-on-Sea City Council is looking for reliable, customer-focused individuals to join our Integrated Equipment Service as a Driver / Equipment Fitter.This is a unique opportunity to start or develop a career in Adult Social Care, supporting local residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.
About the role
As part of our busy equipment service team, you will:
* Deliver and install essential equipment (e.g. beds, hoists, seating)
* Support people recently discharged from hospital or needing care support
* Work across the Southend area in homes and community settings
* Interact with service users, carers and professionals in a respectful and supportive way
* Ensure equipment is fitted safely and correctly
* This is a hands-on, physical role where no two days are the same.
What you'll need to succeed
We are particularly keen to hear from people who are:
* Good communicators - friendly, respectful and able to put people at ease
* Practical and problem-solving - confident using tools or working hands-on
* Reliable and organised - able to manage their time and workload
* Team players - happy working as part of a supportive team
* Interested in helping others - motivated by making a difference
You must:
* Hold a full UK driving licence
* Be comfortable working in people's homes
* Be willing to undertake training in equipment fitting and safe working
* No prior care experience? No problem
