Land charges team leader

Bracknell
Bracknell Forest Council
Team leader
Posted: 9 March
Offer description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Land Charges Team Leader to lead our dedicated team and help shape the future of our service. Whether you are seeking full‑time or part‑time hours, we offer flexibility to support your work‑life balance.

At Bracknell Forest, we pride ourselves on being a council which is stable and well-managed where our employees can thrive in a supportive environment. We understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance and offer a variety of flexible working practices, including options for remote working and arrangements that allow you to work from home, dependent on the needs of the service.

About you…

You are an organised and confident leader with strong management skills and the ability to motivate a team to deliver a high-quality, reliable service. You have an interest in understanding and managing change within the Land Charges sector, balancing improvement with service continuity.

Experience in a land charges team is desirable but not essential. A positive attitude, adaptability and a willingness to learn are just as important for success in this role.

About the team…

You will lead a small team which currently provides an efficient and reliable Local Land Charges Service.

This is an exciting time to join the Land Charges team. We have recently transferred to a new IT system and an initial responsibility of this role will be embedding this system in the operation of the section and developing appropriate procedures around it. We are also preparing for the migration of Local Land Charges data to the national register and there will be significant opportunities to shape the future of the service after this migration is completed.

Although we embrace remote working, our team remains cohesive, engaging in regular virtual meetings and maintaining close collaboration with other officers within the land charges section and across the council as a whole.

Key responsibilities…

* To lead the Land Charges Team to provide an efficient, reliable, and prompt local land charges service in line with statutory functions and the council’s objectives.
* To provide appropriate performance and financial reporting to the Assistant Director: Planning
* To keep up to date with changes in legislation, policies and procedures and respond to these changes in a positive manner.

Our benefits…

* 25 days annual leave increasing to 28 days after 3 years’ continuous service, with the opportunity to buy up to 10 and sell up to 5 days.
* Hybrid working opportunities to support your wellbeing and work-life balance.
* Paid employee volunteering scheme.
* Local government pension scheme, with life insurance cover.
* Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme (subject to eligibility).
* Recognition of continuous service attained within the NHS and UKHSA when calculating some benefits. (Terms and Conditions apply)
* Career development through internal and external training opportunities.
* Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave.
* Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing
* Inclusive and social working environment with a variety of staff networks and a sports and social club.
