The CAA Sponsorship team, part of the Aviation Commercial, Strategy and Sponsorship Division, oversees monitoring and interventions in commercial aviation, the Aviation Futures Forum, and consumer rights, including those with disabilities, as well as the overall aviation strategy. The team manages the CAA/DfT relationship, CAA grants, and appointments.

The CAA Sponsorship Policy Advisor will serve as a key link between the Department and the CAA, working collaboratively to manage governance, funding, priorities, policy, and performance. The role requires flexibility to meet ministerial and Director expectations and to adapt to external factors. Responsibilities include:
1. Communicating regularly with the CAA Strategy Team to monitor delivery against priorities and policy areas set by the Secretary of State.
2. Collaborating with the Aviation Directorate, Public Bodies Centre of Excellence, and Public Appointments Team to understand processes and drive improvements.
3. Managing government grant funding to the CAA, overseeing payments, audits, and ensuring KPIs and milestones are met.
4. Supporting recruitment and reappointment processes for key CAA roles, including Chair, CEO, and Non-Executive Directors.
5. Coordinating briefings for senior officials and ministers regarding governance meetings with the CAA Chair and CEO.
6. Contributing to divisional priorities such as risk management, financial support, and corporate objectives.
7. Handling public correspondence regarding the CAA and coordinating briefings with government departments and the CAA.
