This is an opportunity to join our friendly mixed NHS/private dental practice as an apprentice dental nurse, supporting the dentist in all aspects of patient care.

Wage: £15,213.25 for the first year, with potential increases depending on age, following the National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.45am-5.30pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8.45am-5.00pm (Friday), with a 1-hour lunch break each day, totaling 38.75 hours a week.
Start Date: Monday, 3 November 2025
Duration: 1 year and 9 months
Work
Most of the apprenticeship will be spent working, with hands-on experience and learning on the job.
Responsibilities
Your role will include preparing instruments, mixing materials, ensuring patient comfort, assisting with reception work, making appointments, and taking payments.
Training
The apprenticeship includes time away from work for specialist training to gain professional knowledge and skills.
* Identify and explain relevant dental, oral, craniofacial, and general anatomy.
* Evaluate health risks of drug use and misuse on oral and general health.
* Understand the principles of dental materials and biomaterials.
* Recognize signs of abuse, neglect, or emotional trauma and explain safeguarding systems.
* Assess patients’ anxiety, experience, and expectations regarding dental care and oral health.
* Contribute to special investigations and diagnostic procedures.
* Undertake orthodontic assessments and obtain valid patient consent.
* Record accurate and contemporaneous patient histories and dental charting.
* Manage patient anxiety, support, and reassurance through effective communication.
Requirements
GCSEs in Maths and English (grades A-C or 4-9) are required. Relevant qualifications and industry experience will be considered, and the apprenticeship can be adjusted accordingly.
