The job holder will be responsible for managing an Approved Premises (AP). They will manage the practice of AP staff within the designated site and ensure the effective management of risk posed by resident offenders. In addition, the AP Manager will be expected to participate in an out-of-hours standby duty rota.


Responsibilities and Duties

* Provide effective management and leadership to the team.
* Be accountable for the quality delivery of good practice and team performance improvement within policy and national standards.
* Deploy team resources efficiently and effectively.
* Ensure staff meet the requirements of the NPS' contract with HMPPS, CRC and local business plans.
* Access, analyse and apply performance data proactively to improve function and deliver organisational aims.
* Manage staff development, underperformance, attendance, health and safety, employee relations and diversity matters.
* Ensure AP staff manage risk appropriately, meet public protection standards and targets.
* Contribute to public protection through multi‑agency arrangements and casework review.
* Manage self‑harm, wellbeing and social care needs of residents and provide First Aid when necessary.
* Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to service delivery.
* Manage delegated financial resources.
* Lead collaborations with partners and key stakeholders, representing the NPS as appropriate.
* Maintain effective communication between the AP management team and internal/external partners.
* Respond positively to concerns of neighbours and the local community.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours rota duties and respond to issues as they arise.
* Ensure the effective functioning of contracts for staffing, facilities and estates.
* Play an active part in the corporate management of the NPS as part of the AP Management Team.
* Carry out safeguarding duties for children and adults in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
* Take on delegated responsibilities as required by the Area Manager.
* Demonstrate pro‑social modelling skills, reinforcing positive behaviour and challenging anti‑social attitudes.


Qualifications

* Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice.
* Substantial experience in offender risk assessment and management within the probation service or another criminal justice agency.
* Evidence of risk management and assessment skills.
* Experience implementing health and safety policies.
* Experience working flexibly as part of a team to achieve performance targets.
* Experience in effective administration and information systems.
* Demonstrable achievements in change management and quality improvement.
* Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, both internally and externally.
* Ability to evaluate practice and contribute to policy development.
* IT skills to interpret and apply performance reports.
* Required DBS Standard security checks.
* Where specified, Welsh language competency.
