Overview
We have 4 Children’s Disability teams across the county, providing specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities. These are small teams of Social Workers that support children and families to reach the best outcomes in a timely manner, enabling them to live their lives to the full. A team of skilled Family Practitioners supports in facilitating behaviour management work and undertaking direct work. Our Social Workers make a difference to the lives of people across the county, and we are committed to supporting them with flexible working options and strong learning and development. We encourage collaboration across teams to share best practice and continually improve how we work together.
Responsibilities
* Based within a small team of between seven and eight social workers.
* Hold and manage a workload of children and young people and prioritise all work.
* Undertake direct work with children and their families and carers, providing high support and high challenge to help families find solutions to challenges.
* Provide high quality and timely assessments and reports in the agreed format for Courts, Child Protection Case Conferences, Statutory Reviews and any other forum.
* Maintain client records.
The Ideal Candidate
* Be a Qualified Social Worker with post-qualification experience working directly with children and families and be committed to supporting children to remain with their families.
* Be registered with Social Work England.
* Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with children, families and other professionals.
* Be a team player with the ability to engage and communicate with disabled children and a commitment to ensuring the children on your case load receive the best quality service.
* Bring the desire to work with children and families to give them the right support at the right time, aiming to keep families together where it is safe to do so.
