The IT Systems & Network Administrator will report directly to the Senior IT Systems Administrator and will be responsible, alongside other system administrators, for the administration of all company computer systems (excluding the ERP system). The role requires a variety of system and network skills to provide a reliable, comprehensive, and diverse IT platform to support the business in achieving its goals.
The role involves actively participating in the continuous development of IT systems by providing data and systems that the business can utilize for its advantage. Research and development of new systems will be necessary to help the business gain a competitive edge and improve efficiencies. Key areas of involvement include:
Microsoft 365 (M365), SharePoint, and Teams Support:
* Assist in the administration of M365 applications, such as Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint, ensuring their reliable performance and security.
* Support SharePoint site configurations, lists, libraries, and permissions.
* Collaborate in managing Microsoft Teams for effective collaboration and communication.
VMware Infrastructure and Network Storage:
* Participate in managing virtualized environments using VMware technologies to ensure high availability and efficient resource allocation.
* Assist in administering NAS and SAN systems for data storage and retrieval.
Network Infrastructure and Wireless Technologies:
* Learn to configure and manage network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
* Gain exposure to VLAN configurations to optimize network segmentation, security, and performance.
* Assist in managing wireless networks to ensure reliable connectivity.
* Learn about MikroTik routers and devices, understanding their role in traffic routing and network optimization.
* Gain troubleshooting skills in MikroTik administration.
System Monitoring, Performance Optimization, and Security:
* Participate in implementing monitoring tools to proactively manage system performance and security.
* Identify and collaborate on resolving performance issues, hardware failures, and security vulnerabilities.
* Work with security teams to implement security measures and ensure compliance.
Integration, Collaboration, and Learning:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system integration within network infrastructure.
* Assist in integrating IT systems with network and wireless technologies.
Network Storage Solutions:
* Administer NAS and SAN systems, optimize storage capacity and performance, and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
System Administration Support:
* Support the administration and maintenance of servers, workstations, and software applications.
* Participate in system installations, configurations, and updates under senior guidance.
Documentation and Support:
* Contribute to documentation of configurations, network topology, and troubleshooting procedures.
* Provide technical support to end-users and assist in resolving issues to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Problem-solving abilities and proactive learning attitude.
* Full driving license for site travel within the MacTaggart Scott group.
* Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and networking skills.
