Managing Consultant – Net Zero - Heavy Industry
The Role
Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting, and emissions reduction services, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focusing on the heavy industry sector.
The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team, supporting ERM’s client organizations on challenges related to energy and climate change, including:
* Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2, and 3), developing inventories for heavy industry and hard-to-abate sectors.
* Identifying technological and strategic GHG reduction opportunities and integrating them into climate action roadmaps.
* Reporting climate performance in sustainability reports and CDP disclosures.
* Embedding climate change considerations into risk management and strategy.
* Conducting physical climate change and transition risk assessments, aligned with TCFD.
* Engaging with governance from board to shop floor.
Our role as consultants is to help clients achieve sustainable development objectives and manage associated risks and opportunities.
The team collaborates with other ERM practice areas, including sustainability strategy, impact assessment, due diligence, performance management, and risk management, to deliver value to our international clients.
Role and key responsibilities
As a Net Zero Managing Consultant, you will assist organizations in achieving net-zero emissions by providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions. Projects include Net Zero strategy, GHG inventories, and decarbonization strategies, with opportunities to serve as a key advisor.
You will act as a project manager, leading client interactions, coordinating teams, and delivering proposals and project outcomes.
You will analyze carbon emissions, develop reduction roadmaps, and support clients in implementing these strategies.
Responsibilities include preparing reports, workshops, presentations, managing project delivery, and developing proposals across sectors.
CORE SKILLS
Technical knowledge
* Relevant degree or 5+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields.
* Experience in heavy industry and high-impact sectors is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting standards (GHG Protocol, SBTi, etc.).
* Ability to identify suitable methodologies and explain their selection.
* Understanding of climate legislation and management systems.
Technical skills
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (advanced skills preferred).
* Experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
* Experience managing large projects and multiple tasks.
* Numerate with large datasets, capable of complex calculations.
* Excellent presentation and technical writing skills.
