About the role:
Join JCB Earthmovers, where we design and manufacture world-class wheeled loading shovels for global markets from our factories in the UK, Brazil, and India. Our engineering scope is vast—covering everything from emissions-free battery electric powertrains and hydrostatic CVTs to advanced electrohydraulic systems, lean-design structures, and intelligent machine control systems. This is your chance to work on cutting-edge technology and help shape the future of construction equipment.
What does this role involve day to day?
* Prepare design concepts, general arrangements, and drawings for new product design, VAVE projects, and solutions to field issues.
* Develop robust solutions through problem analysis and involvement in FMEA, 8D, and risk assessments.
* Create technical specifications and design briefs for new products and improvements to existing models.
* Perform engineering calculations to substantiate design decisions.
* Maintain and issue design control documents such as engineering change notes, timing plans, and cost management.
* Ensure product homologation and legislative compliance.
* Design machinery and subsystems including hydraulic circuits, powertrain, and fabricated structures.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure prototype part delivery meets project timelines.
* Oversee day-to-day project activities and supervise engineers allocated to project work.
* Collaborate with validation teams to ensure designs are tested and meet requirements.
* Occasional travel may be required.
This will be suited to you if:
* You have a strong engineering background, ideally with a degree and 5+ years’ experience (role can be adapted for experience level).
* You have good knowledge of off-highway systems and experience in a manufacturing environment.
* You are proficient in 3D CAD (NX preferred) and familiar with PLM/Teamcenter.
* You have experience with failure investigation and root cause analysis (8D, DFMEA).
* You are skilled in MS Office and demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and ownership of projects.
* You can communicate clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams across global locations.
