Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Knowsley 0- service for SCPHN trained school nurse. The successful candidate will have proven leadership, experience and knowledge of school nursing. If you want to make a difference to the health of school aged children within Knowsley and have a commitment to reducing health inequalities we would very much like to hear from you.

You will work closely with the, education and social care to provide services in response to identified need, both public health and safeguarding. whilst working in partnership Knowsley Local Authority to take the local children’s agenda forward.

School Nursing is a fast paced, dynamic and challenging service, and as a School Nurse with us you will be given opportunity to demonstrate leadership whilst working within the public health, health promotion and safeguarding domains.

You should be well organised, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people both in school and within other education provider settings. You must be committed to working effectively both within a team and independently. An in depth knowledge of the current trends and developments within school nursing and the health agenda relating to children’s services is essential.

11. RN (Adult or Child/RSCN)
12. Leadership Level 6
13. Mentorship Level 6
14. Postgraduate in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing- School Nursing or equivalent
15. Solihull Approach Trained

Desirable criteria

16. Motivational Interviewing trained
17. Promotional Interviewing trained
18. Mentorship Level 7
19. Leadership Level 7

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria

20. Experience of managing a School Nurse Caseload
21. Evidence of continuing professional development
22. Experience of leading the assessment, planning and evaluation of care
23. Experience of integrated working
24. Ability to use email, internet and word processing software
25. Sound knowledge of safeguarding issues
