NRL is working with a leading and growing manufacturing business specializing in the Electrical sector. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer Team Lead who will work under the direction of the Engineering Manager. This role involves overseeing various engineering projects, managing teams, delivering project solutions, and ensuring all technical specifications are met efficiently. You will collaborate with estimators, engineering production teams, manufacturing, and site-based installation teams to ensure smooth project execution.
The role requires expertise in CAD design, control systems, and project management.
Key Requirements
* HND in an electrical discipline is essential; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.
* Proven experience (5+ years) in electrical engineering, switchgear, and electrical control system design.
* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, SEE Electrical, or similar).
* Understanding of BS7671 wiring regulations, BS EN 61439, and IEC standards.
* Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layouts.
* Leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and mentor engineers.
* Excellent problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
* Proficiency in electrical engineering software and tools.
* Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electrical engineering.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality engineering solutions.
Experience with MCC wiring and PLC programming is a plus but not essential.
Primary Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the electrical engineering team in designing, developing, and delivering electrical systems for various projects.
* Oversee the design and manufacture of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Collaborate with estimators to prepare project cost estimates and schedules.
* Develop and review CAD designs and schematics for electrical LV switchgear, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
* Coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams to translate designs into final products.
* Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for successful delivery.
* Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.
* Ensure quality assurance and control standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
* Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation within the team.
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders to meet or exceed expectations.
* Drive continuous improvement in electrical engineering processes and team performance.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing electrical switchgear projects from design to installation and commissioning, coordinating with clients and contractors, organizing FAT & SAT tests, supporting sales and manufacturing teams, producing technical submissions, and updating the Engineering Manager on project progress.
