To be responsible for widening participation initiatives across ELHT.
Have a clear understanding of the widening access team’s objectives, support and contribute to all activities required to achieve goals.
To lead, plan, design apprenticeship opportunities together with service areas and to provide professional advice and support to all matters related to widening access and apprenticeships.
To work across the organisation, with our chosen education providers, local schools & colleges, other NHS Trusts and Health Education England.
Continuous review, evaluate and make improvements to widening access programmes to ensure they are aligned to organisational need.
To support the team in planning and implementing all activity required by the Widening Participation Organisational agenda. Such activities include:
* Development for staff, including Apprenticeships
* Provide accurate data required by the Career and professional development Lead
Main duties of the job
The apprenticeship coordinator will have responsibility for the planning, coordination and tracking of apprenticeships within the trust, working with internal and external colleagues. This role will entail working with online systems to record and track apprenticeships, coordinate applications and review apprenticeship programme offers. Financial tracking of apprenticeship spend using the government digital service and creating monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To work with external stakeholders including education providers, local schools & colleges, other NHS Trusts and Health Education England.
· Plan and lead on the delivery of career events both in schools and at ELHT
· Provide accurate and timely reports and data as required. This includes activity against the apprenticeship levy, such as; spend to date across the organisation
· Lead on the development of new approaches within the organisation related to this work stream
· Plan and organise the provision of vocational qualifications and development interventions for ELHT staff in support of the Trust’s Workforce Strategies. This will require the post holder to work autonomously to undertake analysis, interpretation, comparison of options and making recommendations.
· In conjunction with higher education providers contribute to the development of apprenticeship pathways that are fit for purpose for the Trust’s needs. This will require the post holder to have a clear understanding of the Trusts educational requirements across all divisions
· Responsible for advising on suitability of apprenticeship role including identification of suitable framework/standards, level of qualification, writing of job description, co-ordinating of recruitment & selection process and arranging timely enrolment.
* Negotiate and allocate funds to training providers via the Digital Apprenticeship Account with assistance from the finance team.
* Responsible for monitoring learners’ progress, working closely with the training provider and managers across ELHT to ensure timely completion and the co-ordination of the end point assessment, with the assistant from the administrators.
* Work closely with managers to ensure action plans are implemented and monitored to address any learner issues such sickness/absence, inappropriate behaviour, failure to complete coursework. To provide support to both managers & learners who failed to meet achieve their learning outcomes including disciplinary, grievance and redeployment.
* Provide outstanding pastoral care for students during the period of their apprenticeship. Including providing mediation if necessary and support to find suitably employment at the end of their fixed term contract.
* Contributes to developing relevant policy and procedures.
* Ensure the effective recording, monitoring and reporting of information which evidence achievement of national and local standards & targets e.g. Health Education England, CQC Essential Standards of Quality & Safety, NHS Litigation Authority requirements, SHA Learning & Development Agreement, Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) targets.
* To undertake robust and effective evaluation of learning interventions to secure quality outcomes and to take forward action plans agreed to meet any identified gaps.
* To explore and promote innovative methods of learning which support improvement in practice for the benefit of patients.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with managers, learning and development team and other key stakeholders.
* Develop, plan, manage and oversee the development of career events in response to feedback from college and local schools.
* Responsible for supervision of: Work-based education team Apprentice Administrator role.
* Identifies training and, marketing material as required and manages this stock.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* GCSE English / Maths Grade 4-9 or equivalent
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Hold any supervisory vocational qualification e.g.D32/33 or A1 Assessor certificate or an equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
* Masters Degree or equivalent

Essential criteria
* Extensive specialist knowledge of apprenticeship pathways and utilisation of the Levy
* Significant experience of contributing and driving quality assurance and service improvement, to include clinical governance and quality standards
* A good working knowledge of the initiatives relating to the widening participation agenda
