Job Role Overview
This role forms a critical part of the overall control function, acting as a central point of engineering excellence. It provides a consultation service and manages engineering incidents. For major incidents or those with significant operational impact, the ADE is responsible for ensuring business continuity, incident response, and implementing recovery plans and contingencies. The ADE will also lead and influence internal and external stakeholders, frontline teams, and suppliers to achieve shared objectives while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
This is a shift-based role, involving 12-hour shifts with a mix of early and late shifts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and control critical systems as part of Heathrow’s operational command and control function.
2. Lead the engineering team during incidents that threaten life, property, or business operations, liaising with senior operational managers.
3. Implement business continuity plans through contingency and recovery strategies.
4. Act as a Control Engineer, Senior Authorised Person, and Authorised Person on various systems for UK Power Networks Services (UKPNS) and Heathrow, ensuring compliance with regulations and safe systems of work.
5. Maintain specialist authorisations through ongoing training and assessments.
6. Support and develop engineering talent through leadership, coaching, and mentoring, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work.
Qualifications and Skills
* City and Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, HNC or higher in an engineering discipline.
* Experience in communicating and influencing at all organizational levels, with professional dealings with colleagues, customers, and partners.
* Full UK driving license and ability to obtain an airside driving license.
* Authorized as an Authorised Person or higher within a safe system of work.
