Ecology Graduate Liverpool or Manchester - March 26 start. AECOM are seeking Graduate Ecologists in our Liverpool and Manchester offices. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career by gaining valuable work experience within an established and successful consultancy.
About our Team
Our Nature team is part of AECOM’s Environment, Water and Energy business, delivering environmental management services for feasibility, design of nature-based solutions, and environmental impact assessment. We work across terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments in sectors including energy, water, government, manufacturing and transportation. Most work is based in the UK and Ireland, with potential opportunities overseas.
Responsibilities
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team on desk-based assessments and field surveys including preliminary ecological appraisal, UKHab Survey, biodiversity net gain data collection and assessments, and protected species surveys.
* Occasionally conduct fieldwork away from home and some night-time surveying.
* Demonstrate good organization, research and planning skills to support safe and high-technical-standard work.
* Collaborate with a range of taxonomic groups and pursue personal scientific interests where possible.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* 2:1 degree and above (or equivalent) in Ecology or related subject with ecological components.
* Keen interest and understanding of UK wildlife; plant and animal identification skills; strong practical field skills.
* Experience with protected species surveys; data recording accuracy; strong Microsoft Office skills; numeracy.
* Effective written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work in a team.
* Willingness to travel to other locations; driving licence beneficial.
* Previous ecology sector experience beneficial (volunteering, NGO or consultancy).
Preferred Qualifications
* Working towards protected species licences (e.g., bats, great crested newts, hazel dormouse).
* Postgraduate qualification; experience with Phase 1 habitat or UKHab surveys; professional institution membership or progression.
