Residential Support Worker Location: High Wycombe Duration: 3-Month Rolling Contract Hours: 24 Hours per Week (Part-Time) Rate: £17.17 umbrella an hour (£13.72 PAYE an hour) We are currently recruiting 3 Residential Support Workers on behalf of a well-established children’s residential service in High Wycombe. This is a 3–6 month interim opportunity to support the service while permanent recruitment is underway. About the Service You will be working within a residential short breaks service supporting young people aged 5–18 with disabilities. The service provides overnight care, giving families and carers essential respite. The environment is designed to be welcoming and supportive, with a focus on: High-quality personal care Tailored meals Engaging and meaningful activitiesThe Role As a Residential Support Worker, you will: Work 1:1 with a young person throughout your shift Support children and young people with complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and challenging behaviours Assist with personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment Work collaboratively with a wider team to deliver high-quality careThe service typically supports 2–8 young people at any one time. Shift Pattern Please note: flexibility is not available on shift times Shifts: 2:00pm – 10:00pm Rota provided up to 6 weeks in advance Shifts confirmed directly with the agencyRequirements Essential: Ability to build and maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with children and young people Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and/or disabilities Confidence working with challenging behaviours Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to safely lift and handle children and young people Understanding of the challenges faced by those with physical disabilities and appropriate support methodsDesirable: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Previous experience in a residential care settingAdditional: Basic moving and handling / hoisting knowledge Physically able to support personal care and daily activities
