SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blackburn Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Blackburn, with an immediate start available. This is a temp to perm contract offering a competitive hourly rate of £13.75 – £14.50, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities: Support pupils with SEMH needs in a structured and nurturing environment. Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies that promote emotional regulation, behaviour management and academic progress. Provide one-to-one and small group support, both in and out of the classroom. Help pupils develop their confidence, resilience and social skills. Assist in delivering creative and therapeutic interventions. Maintain a safe and positive environment for all learners. Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, or a strong interest in the field. Excellent communication and behaviour management skills. Calm, patient and adaptable approach to challenging situations. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one. Ability to commit to a full-time, long-term position with the potential for a permanent role. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, Psychology) are desirable but not essential.
