We are working with a specialist school in the Blackpool (FY3) area seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide tailored support to pupils aged 7–16 who may have SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs. Your role will be pivotal in helping them develop not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Duties include: Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. Assisting in implementing individual behaviour and learning plans. Helping create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment. Using de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation strategies. Liaising with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies where needed. Requirements: Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or similar SEN. Strong communication skills and resilience. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
