Orthoptic Assistant – Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge

In this role you will be the first line of contact for patients, parents and professional staff, and you will deliver clinical assessments and administrative support across paediatric and adult orthoptic, virtual glaucoma, neuro‑ophthalmic and other sub‑speciality clinics.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and administrative support to the Orthoptic and Ophthalmic Technician Team.
* Undertake clinical assessments, such as various ophthalmic imaging and visual assessments (including DigVis) on paediatric and adult patients under the direction of registered orthoptists and take a lead role in technician‑led clinics.
* Coordinate clinic timetabling and procurement; act as first point of contact for patient, parent and staff queries; support Head Orthoptist and Technician Coordinator with staff leave, sickness cover, induction and general service provision.
* Organise and facilitate meetings/training days including minute taking; support education and training of multidisciplinary staff in ophthalmic imaging and visual assessments.
* Maintain all aspects of ophthalmic imaging and orthoptic equipment.
* Work effectively both single‑handed and as part of a team; demonstrate good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
