Job summary
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the established medical education department based at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The successful post holder would be an enthusiastic and clinically current member of an expanding team covering clinical skills and simulation instruction for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
The post holder will work closely with our experienced Clinical Skills and Simulation Tutor and Technician. They should have up-to-date skills and qualifications to instruct students and candidates in various skills and simulation-based sessions, using low to high fidelity manikins and clinical training equipment.
The successful candidate will also join the Resuscitation Services team and instruct on intermediate and advanced Resuscitation courses, provided they hold the necessary qualifications. Maintaining clinical skills will be supported through planned clinical time and active membership of the emergency response team, attending cardiac arrests and emergency calls on the hospital site. This role offers a varied and engaging experience.
The role is structured as approximately 1/3 Resuscitation Officer and 2/3 Clinical Skills and Simulation Tutor, providing a broad scope of responsibilities within the organization.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the provision, development, and supervision of clinical skills and simulation within the Medical Education department.
2. Facilitate research and development in skills and simulation education.
3. Lead as a simulation/clinical skills tutor to enhance clinical competency of multidisciplinary staff, ensuring high standards of care.
4. Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes among staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
5. Plan, facilitate, and deliver clinical skills and simulation training sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including external agencies.
6. Support educational tutors in delivering training and assessments.
Welsh language skills are desirable; applications in Welsh or English are equally welcome.
