Rotational Clinical Pharmacist (Band 6 – 7 progression)
The Trust has an exciting opportunity for a full-time rotational pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. The role is open to candidates seeking either a band 6 or 7 position as a rotational clinical pharmacist. Newly qualified or recently registered pharmacists will start as a band 6, progressing to a band 7 rotational role once they have successfully completed a planned advancement pathway. Established pharmacists with the relevant experience may commence at band 7.
This role will provide you with a range of rotational clinical pharmacy experience across various specialties within the Trust, as well as developing non-clinical skills.
Responsibilities
* Work in a direct, patient-facing role ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medicines across the Trust.
* Participate in a structured rotation plan across clinical areas, including Medical wards, Surgical wards, Admissions wards, Medicines Information, Aseptic Production, Palliative care, Antimicrobial stewardship, and both inpatient and outpatient dispensary.
* Contribute to an extended hours, seven-day pharmacy service on a rostered basis and participate in on-call service out of hours.
* Support the use of the electronic prescribing and medication record system (e-Care) to monitor and improve care.
* Develop the specialist clinical pharmacy service to wards within the rotational area in line with local and national standards and policies.
* Provide specialised pharmaceutical care, support other healthcare staff, and contribute to multidisciplinary governance meetings.
* Support the Lead Pharmacist for Education & Training by delivering training to pharmacists and foundation trainees, including supervision and ward-based assessments.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* Essential
o M.Pharm/B Pharm/BSc Pharmacy
o Registered with the GPhC
o Postgraduate qualification in clinical Pharmacy or nearing completion, or demonstrated equivalent experience (Band 7 only)
* Desirable
o Membership of RPSGB
o Independent Prescribing Qualification (Band 7 only)
* Experience & Knowledge
o Post-registration hospital experience (Band 7 only)
o Experience delivering a pharmacy clinical service across multiple specialties (Band 7 only)
o Experience in medicines management and education/training, including mentoring
o Experience in MDT working and using pharmacy computer systems
* Skills & Abilities
o Strong communication with healthcare professionals and patients
o Ability to manage time, prioritise, and work to deadlines
o Ability to apply evidence-based medicine and perform complex prescription reviews
o Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and proficient computer skills
o Ability to work flexibly and participate in out-of-hours rotas
