Electrical Inspector - Northampton – F1 – Ongoing contract
This long-term contract role for an Electrical Inspector offers a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise with a world-leading motorsport business in Northamptonshire.
You will be a key member of the team, crucial to the success of this dynamic company on its F1 and advanced engineering projects. The role is based 100% on-site in Brixworth, Northamptonshire.
Purpose of the role
* Support manufacturing with all inspection tasks related to internally manufactured parts.
Responsibilities include
Inspection experience within a low-volume, high-value precision environment, including electrical testing and measurement tasks.
Required knowledge and skills
* Ability to confirm the quality of components within required timescales, using electrical test equipment, first principle inspection techniques, and automated/mechanical measurement/test equipment, including CAD models.
* Develop measurement strategies for complex components or materials.
* Understanding of GD&T and other quality standards (ISO, DIN, IPC, ANSI, JIT, BSI, SOPs, HPP logs, PCB schematics).
* Experience in creating and maintaining SOPs and working with systems like SAP.
* Qualified to inspect PCBs, looms, and harnesses to IPC 610/620 standards.
* Experience handling and inspecting ESS batteries, understanding of cell technology and voltage measurements.
* Knowledge of electrical components such as diodes, capacitors, and soldering processes.
* Use of computed tomography (CT) for quality verification of sealed electrical components.
* Ability to liaise with other departments to optimize measurement strategies.
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
* Electro-mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ in Mechanical/Electrical.
* Metrology courses (NPL Level 1, 2, 3).
* Intermediate CMM training.
* IPC620 / IPC610 certification.
* Ability to work collaboratively to deliver quality on time.
