Your new roleSouthend‑on‑Sea City Council is looking for reliable, customer‑focused individuals to join our Integrated Equipment Service as a Driver / Equipment Fitter.
This is a unique opportunity to start or develop a career in Adult Social Care, supporting local residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.
About the roleAs part of our busy equipment service team, you will:
1. Deliver and install essential equipment ( beds, hoists, seating)
2. Support people recently discharged from hospital or needing care support
3. Work across the Southend area in homes andmunity settings
4. Interact with service users, carers and professionals in a respectful and supportive way
5. Ensure equipment is fitted safely and correctly
6. This is a hands‑on, physical role where no two days are the same.
What you'll need to succeedWe are particularly keen to hear from people who are:
7. Goodmunicators – friendly, respectful and able to put people at ease
8. Practical and problem‑solving – confident using tools or working hands‑on
9. Reliable and organised – able to manage their time and workload
10. Team players – happy working as part of a supportive team
11. Interested in helping others – motivated by making a difference
You must:
12. Hold a full UK driving licence
13. Befortable working in people’s homes
14. Be willing to undertake training in equipment fitting and safe working
15. No prior care experience? No problem
