Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.Job overviewWithin this role you will work within a specific clinical area to support the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.You will support the Patient Pathway Coordinator in providing administrative support to all clinical staff within the clinical area including Consultants, Nurse Specialists and other divisional managers in ensuring the specialty are able to deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g. the 18 weeks referral to Treatment target.You will possibly need to provide cross-cover for other PPC/PPO to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is maintained at all times.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will play a key role in delivering efficient administrative processes, working closely with fellow Patient Pathway Coordinators to ensure every patient’s journey is smooth, well‑managed, and aligned with agreed targets and timelines.
They will use digital tracking systems to quickly locate case notes and investigation results, while ensuring all patient information is accurately maintained and updated within the relevant systems.You will take responsibility for booking and rearranging patient appointments as needed, while supporting the Patient Pathway Coordinator in setting up, reviewing, and adjusting clinics in collaboration with clinicians to meet demand and enhance patient and stakeholder experience. The role also involves assisting coordinators, divisional managers, and clinicians in managing clinic capacity, including communicating with patients regarding cancellations and re‑bookings.The post holder will contribute to the induction of new administrative staff across the team and the wider Trust, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to embed best practice.
