About Us
Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue has been a cornerstone of compassion for dogs in need across the region for over two decades. Our mission? To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs while advocating for their welfare and educating the community. With a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and trustees, we provide love, shelter, and second chances for hundreds of dogs every year.
The Role
As Chief Executive, you'll serve as the public face of the charity and work closely with our Board of Trustees to ensure strong governance and sustainable growth. You'll:
* Develop and lead the strategic vision, expanding impact and reach
* Oversee day-to-day operations, including finance, HR, and compliance
* Cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and the wider community
* Champion fundraising initiatives and secure long-term funding streams
* Inspire and manage a small, passionate team dedicated to animal welfare
* Ensure excellent care and rehoming services for our dogs
Who We're Looking For
You're an emotionally intelligent, entrepreneurial leader with:
* Proven experience in a senior management role (charity sector preferred)
* Strong financial acumen and operational management skills
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and networking abilities
* A demonstrable passion for animal welfare and the charity's mission
* Strategic thinking with the ability to translate ideas into action
