An exciting opportunity has arisen at Geotechnics' Exeter office for a Project Engineer to join the team and manage some of our ground investigation projects. In this predominately office based role, you will work alongside our existing team of project managers and be responsible for projects from award to issue of a final report. You will be responsible for maintaining the technical, commercial and SHEQ compliance for which Geotechnics is renowned for in the ground investigation industry.

This is a varied role and not one day will be the same……variety is definitely the name of the game here

Project Engineer role:

Our Project Engineers are involved in, take responsibility for and manage of all aspects of our projects. From the point of award with client liaison, Project Engineers work on setting up projects to ensure the most efficient programme and methods of investigation are realised. Project Engineers produce health and safety documentation, a programme of work and together with management they ensure the right people and the right equipment and plant are organised. The Project Engineer will work alongside a designated Site Engineer who will run the site works of a project collating and producing engineer borehole and trial pit logs, in situ test results and all the necessary SHEQ documentation.

Post site works they see the project through and arrange all laboratory testing and produce a report. Project Engineers are responsible for all quality, technical accuracy and commercial management and success of any given project. The role demands a good all-round knowledge of site investigation together with excellent communication skills. Being the main point of contact with the Client they will usually be working on a number of different projects all at various stages.

Who would suit this role?

This role would be suited either an individual with existing experience of ground investigation project management or someone with 5 years experience in the ground investigation industry. This may be an experienced site engineer who has gained practical knowledge out on site and is now looking to take the next step in their career

* 5 years experience in ground investigation
* Are suitably qualified (A degree in Geology, Geography, Engineering or Earth Science related subject)
* Are enthusiastic and keen to learn
* Are able to create spreadsheets and other documents for effective reporting, communication and record-keeping
* Hold a full UK driving license

The ideal person will be degree qualified, will be diligent, have a sense of urgency, be tenacious with a strength of purpose and above all have integrity.

They will be able to quickly build relationships with all staff.
