The role
As a Quality Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that Defence training programmes are delivered to the highest standards. By embedding robust quality assurance processes, supporting staff development, and driving consistency in teaching and assessment, you’ll enhance learner outcomes, strengthen compliance with awarding bodies, and build customer confidence. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Conduct quality assurance activities including sampling plans, teaching observations, and learning walks
2. Support accredited and non-accredited training programmes, mentoring new and existing staff
3. Maintain quality documentation, CPD records, and training matrices in line with ISO and regulatory standards
4. Provide clear, constructive feedback to trainers and support their ongoing development
5. Drive standardisation and share best practice to ensure consistency of delivery
The role is based onsite at Lyneham, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. Occasional travel to other sites is required.
Essential experience of the Quality Lead:
6. Extensive education/training quality experience ideally in the adult sector
7. Experience of conducting teaching and learning observations
8. Experience of conducting IQA activity against accredited standards
9. Knowledge of DSAT (Defence Systems Approach to Training ) process is an advantage
10. Appropriate engineering industry experience is desirable
Qualifications for the Quality Lead:
11. Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
12. Level 5 or above teaching qualification (or working towards)
13. Quality qualification (e.g., Qualified IQA) (or working towards)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
