Position: Head Of Category Management
Location: Hybrid 3 days/week – Home Counties
Salary: £85k – £95k
This is a pivotal commercial role for a well-known FMCG brand in a well-established category.
As Head of Category Management, you’ll be a key link between the Sales and Marketing functions executing a go-to-market strategy combining Category Management and Shopper Marketing excellence.
Sitting within the commercial function and forming part of the senior leadership team, this role is seen as an essential part of commercial growth.
You will execute the following across 3 key pillars:
Category Development:
1. Lead the Perfect Store strategy, analyzing monthly performance to identify issues and opportunities.
2. Guide your team in the implementation of NPDs and product re-launches, aligning with company and channel strategies.
3. Cultivate a strategic category vision, guiding your team to execute it across key retailers.
4. Oversee evaluations of range, space, sales, and other critical areas.
Shopper Marketing:
5. Develop and implement an integrated Shopper marketing strategy to meet key brand objectives.
6. Build robust analysis and evaluation tools to support NPD, in-store activations, and marketing initiatives.
7. Shape and direct your team in implementing a successful annual brand and innovation strategy.
Team Leadership:
8. Collaborate closely with, and nurture, an industry-leading Category and Shopper team.
9. Define a clear career development pathway for your team.
10. Partner with the commercial leadership team to create a fully functional, motivated group.
What you’ll need to own this role:
11. Strong commercial acumen with previous experience in a category management leadership role
12. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities grounded in empathy
13. Proven experience and comfortable with cross-functional stakeholder management
14. A passion for data and well-versed in the tools of the trade (Nielsen, IRI, Kantar, Dunhumby, etc)
15. Able to break down complex figures and translate them into compelling actionable insights
