An R&D analytical chemist is urgently required to join an expanding analytical team to work on the development of new and existing products. Responsibilities include writing trial proposals, progress reports, and final reports. You will collaborate with the technical manager and a strong analytical team to help design and improve processes, with proper documentation to support these activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and contribute to research projects to improve company functions.
* Utilize ICP and other analytical techniques (IC, ICP LC, GC-MS).
* Write project-specific COSHH risk assessments and general risk assessments for safe working.
* Assist in process troubleshooting and customer support activities, including handling complaints.
* Support laboratory analysis of samples.
* Investigate raw materials and final products, developing and maintaining documentation.
* Carry out analytical projects, producing reports that aid troubleshooting and new product development.
* Manage sample storage and monitoring.
* Perform routine calibration of instruments, focusing on those related to R&D.
* Develop and review analytical test methods, and assist quality control as needed.
* Ensure safety procedures are followed, especially regarding product and reagent safety.
* Train relevant staff on new methods.
Training may be provided to an exceptional graduate with a chemistry degree.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Chemistry; A-levels in Maths and Chemistry preferred.
* Experience or understanding of inorganic analytical techniques (IC, ICP, GC-MS, XRF) from university projects or work experience.
* Strong analytical chemistry skills and laboratory techniques.
* Curiosity and problem-solving abilities.
