Key Responsibilities
* Review complex reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work and elevate challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Use data to inform water quality models and contribute to evidence‑based decisions.
* Provide timely answers to technical questions for the team.
* Take on incident response duties, with full training and support. Additional payment and flexible arrangements may apply.
* Apply sound records management principles.
Experience and Skills Required
* Proven experience in data analysis and an understanding of modelling software.
* Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS and specialist packages (e.g., Mike or Cormix) is an advantage.
* Knowledge of water quality and marine environment is desirable.
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; professional membership (e.g., Chartered Engineer) sought.
* Comfortable working in a virtual team, and willingness to travel for occasional national meetings.
* Strong communication skills – able to explain technical information to non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to work collaboratively with dispersed teams and external partners.
* Initiative to contribute to the team’s work and to the wider department.
Training and development opportunities will be provided.
