About Dingley's Promise:
Dingley's Promise provides life-changing support for children under 5 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. With centres across the South of England, South Coast and Midlands we are a growing national charity, we deliver specialist early years support, inclusive training, and work with partners to influence systems change.
Why we're recruiting:
As we grow in reach and ambition, we are seeking a Fundraising Trustee to strengthen our Board. With the aim of diversifying income and becoming more sustainable, we need strategic leadership to support and challenge our fundraising team, help unlock new networks, and guide us through our next phase of development.
Trustee Director responsibilities:
* Have ultimate responsibility for the work of the charity
* Must act in the best interests of the charity
* Take decisions about the future of the charity
* Ensure the organisation remains sustainable
* Consider likely future challenges and prepare the charity to face them
* Ensure the charity is working within the law
* Be accountable for the organisation
* Monitor to ensure the charity is meeting objectives
* Ensure the board is working effectively and efficiently
Fundraising Trustee responsibilities:
* Strategic input: Contribute to the strategic development of our fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with Dingley's mission and values.
* Support & challenge: Act as a sounding board and critical friend to the Head of Fundraising and CEO.
* Networks & profile: Open doors to new corporate, philanthropic, or high-value individual supporters.
* Governance: Ensure our fundraising practices are ethical, effective, and compliant with regulation.
* Champion fundraising: Help embed a culture of philanthropy across the Board and wider organisation.
What we're looking for:
* Proven experience in fundraising — ideally one or more of the following:
o Major donors
o Trusts and foundations
o Corporate partnerships
o Digital or community fundraising
* Strategic thinking and strong communication skills.
* Willingness to leverage your network for the charity.
* Commitment to our values of inclusion, innovation, and impact.
Trustee Time Commitment:
* Attend Board meetings held once every two months.
* Visit at least one Centre every term.
* If interested in joining a Board subcommittee, attend meetings held once every two months.
* Read all documentation before each meeting and prepare questions in advance.
* Wherever possible, attend fundraising and donor stewardship events which are usually outside of working hours.
* Wherever possible, attend full staff events such as the Annual Team Day and Christmas party.
* One in-person away day per year.
* Additional availability for informal support (2-3 hours/month).
