An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women’s Health Service to provide competent medical secretarial support on a fixed term basis of 12 months to cover maternity leave to the Gynaecology Consultants at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for 32 hours a week.
You will be joining a welcoming team of experienced secretaries, working within the Gynaecology Department at Basingstoke.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, professional and confidential secretarial support to Consultant Gynaecologists which will ensure the efficient running of the service.
To provide and manage an efficient and effective full administration service for the consultants, designated clinical staff and specialist nurses and act as first point of contact for all forms of communication for the Consultants and the wider team.
The post holder will monitor the timetable of the consultant team, taking an overview of the co-ordination of both clinical and other commitments and be responsible for organising and communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and /or carers.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. •Good standard of general Education including English Language and Maths GCSE to grade C/4+ or above
2. •Customer service training or similar
3. •Vocational Level 3, or Diploma of Medical Secretaries qualification or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment experience
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
4. •Experience of organising own work under pressure
5. •Working knowledge of IT systems e.g. Word/Excel/Access/Powerpoint
6. •Experience of adhering to targets, establishing efficient office systems and processes
Desirable criteria
7. •Experience of working in an NHS environment or public sector
8. •Knowledge of gynaecology medical terminology
9. •Experience of NHS systems e.g. Patient Centre, EPR, ERS.
