Description Job description Are you looking for a fast-paced role where you can lead on high-priority international engagement? You will be working as the Engagement Manager United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Showcasing Scotland Team within Export Promotion. Scotland’s relationship with the UAE has grown in depth and breadth in recent years leading to the signing of a bilateral trade and investment Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Ministry of Economy, which provides the framework for the project teamwork. This work is a high priority for both the Deputy First Minister and the CEO of Scottish Enterprise - with whom you would have regular engagement - making it a high-profile, dynamic, and fast paced role. You will report to the team leader and collaborate with senior staff across the SG and Scottish Development International (SDI) and make connections externally. Responsibilities Support the development of the Government to Government (G2G) relationship by creating and delivering high level events and Ministerial engagements between the Scottish and UAE Government. Manage a project delivery plan in line with SG Project Management principles with clearly defined measurable objectives and monitor progress ensuring the project team stay on track to deliver. Collaborate effectively across the Scottish Government and with stakeholders in Scotland on identifying business opportunities to deepen the UAE relationship. Work together with specialists in communications to help showcase Scottish opportunities in the UAE. Develop and maintain an accurate record of the engagements taking place with the UAE Government and its agencies to ensure follow up on actions. Work closely with Deputy First Minister, providing regular updates on the project, recommendations for next steps and potential upcoming visits to the UAE. Supporting the planning and delivery of major events including Scotland Week 2026 in the UAE. Working pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. From October 2025, the Scottish Government will require staff in hybrid-compatible roles to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. We have a divisional base in Atlantic Quay 5, Glasgow. Security checks Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
