Context: SYSTRA is hiring for an Architect based in Manchester, Leeds, York or London offices. Following the award of landmark international projects, this is an exciting time to join SYSTRA’s Buildings Team as we develop and raise our profile in the UK & Ireland and across our global regions. The focus is on delivering in the Transport and Infrastructure Sectors—passenger stations, rail depots and energy-from-waste projects within the Architectural team, as part of a world-leading multi-disciplinary transport design consultancy.
Responsibilities
* Production of standard Architectural deliverables, design and studies for projects
* Use appropriate industry standard CAD modelling software
* Deliver specific packages of work to programme deadlines
* Assist in the production of designs, drawings, schedules and calculations under the direction of a Senior Technician / Architect; take responsibility for allocated tasks
* Coordinate and manage designs, drawings, schedules and calculations, including less experienced colleagues
* Direct and manage in-house architectural technicians, other design disciplines and Architectural Partners to meet client and business requirements
* Liaise with architecture and multi-discipline colleagues to produce organized built-environment design solutions
* Manage design input from Architectural partners and Sub-contractors/consultants
* Provide technical assistance to site-based personnel
* Attend and contribute to project meetings; lead/proactive participation in meetings
* Advise contractors and consultants on projects
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary design solutions during Technical Design, Construction and Handover (Work Stages 4-8)
* Work to achieve targets for timely, safe, standards-compliant delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
Qualifications / Profile
* ARB & RIBA registered Architect
* Experienced/Accredited user in Revit / MicroStation / AECOsim; CAD modelling to compliant standards; able to follow company/sector protocols
* Experience in Rail Infrastructure Design or Middle Eastern Infrastructure Design is advantageous
* Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop / InDesign for quality graphical presentations
* Strong report and case study writing skills
* General skills in Microsoft Office
* Experience using common data environments for Design Consultant/Contractor/Client file sharing
* CAD software: Bentley MicroStation/AECOsim and Autodesk Revit
* Solid knowledge of design and construction principles and standards
* Motivated team player who works well under pressure and collaborates with colleagues
* Self-confident, eager to learn with mentorship and critique
* Self-motivated, proactive, inclusive attitude; able to integrate with colleagues
* Well organized with good time management; able to work quickly and meet client expectations
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional delivery
