Scope / Purpose Of Role
The Quality Controller is responsible for carrying out checks to ensure that all products meet relevant specifications and quality standards. They must follow company procedures to ensure the implementation and adherence to site food safety, legality, and quality policies.
Key Result Areas
1. Ensure all start-up checks are completed by the production team before production begins, and report any issues to relevant departments.
2. Visually inspect that the production area and machinery are hygienically clean before starting production.
3. Calibrate checkweighers before production, where applicable.
4. Perform quality inspections of products against specifications and standards.
5. Ensure correct visual standards are displayed at all times.
6. Conduct audits of quality and food safety checks, including label checks, metal detector checks, weight checks, machine start-up checks, traceability, and temperature checks.
7. Collect samples from every production run.
8. Check product safety, legality, and quality at the start, end, and throughout the production run.
9. Sign off relevant paperwork within 30 minutes of the end of the run.
10. Perform calibration checks, where applicable.
11. Identify non-conforming products and processes, informing the Quality Technician or Manager promptly.
12. Support production operatives and team leaders to meet quality standards.
13. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Standards.
14. Report issues found during the shift in the Daily Shift Report to relevant departments.
15. Accurately collect and file all relevant paperwork at shift end.
16. Verify that start and end of run metal detector checks and paperwork are completed.
Additional tasks may be assigned by Technical Management based on business needs.

1. Detect issues at the start of production runs.
2. Ensure all products comply with specifications and quality standards.
3. Verify metal detection checks are performed by trained staff according to procedures.
4. Complete checks on products and paperwork promptly.
5. Identify and report non-conforming paperwork and processes.
6. Communicate issues clearly to relevant staff for corrective actions.
7. Minimize rejected products due to quality, weight, or labeling issues.
