Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our Breast (and Endocrine Surgery) Clinical Nurse Specialist Team as a Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The successful candidate will join a very busy, well-established, and motivated team providing an excellent service to patients undergoing breast reconstruction surgery following previous breast cancer surgery, as part of risk-reducing pathways and benign surgery.
This post is permanent, 37.5 hours per week.
The successful candidate will have previous post-registration clinical experience in caring for patients with breast cancer. Applicants should possess excellent IT, literacy, communication, and organizational skills and be prepared to work flexibly.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Breast Specialist Nursing Team, you will be supported by a dedicated team.
You will provide expert advice to patients, supporting them through decision-making, treatment, and beyond. This includes managing a caseload and delivering follow-up services across the Royal and Aintree Breast Units:
* Nurse-Led Breast Prosthesis Clinic
* Nurse-Led Nipple Tattoo Clinic
* Attending Joint Genetics Clinic
* Nurse-led follow-up clinic
* Complex wound management and review
* Management of post-op complications such as seromas
You will develop skills to personalize care through undertaking Holistic Needs Assessments and encouraging patient-supported self-management.
You will work as part of a well-established team but also have the ability to work autonomously.

1. Perform specialist personalized assessment and higher-level discussion of patients' holistic needs.
2. Demonstrate higher-level clinical care by managing a patient caseload, providing expert assessment, planning, and evaluation.
3. Contribute to a multi-professional approach in managing patients, especially regarding ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements, including access to community cancer support.
4. Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives.
5. Support patients and their families, ensuring they receive the information needed to self-manage and participate in their care.
6. Recognize changes in patients' conditions requiring intervention and case manage/refer as appropriate.
7. Support, assist, and encourage the multidisciplinary team in resolving patient problems.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* First-level Registered Nurse with demonstrable experience in Breast Care.
* A recognized qualification in cancer or Breast Care nursing, e.g., RGN N09.
* Educated to degree level or currently on a degree pathway or equivalent.
* Relevant Teaching Qualification or equivalent.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Masters Study.
* Counselling Certificate or relevant post-registration Cancer Nursing qualification.
Experience (Essential)
* Significant post-registration experience in Breast Cancer Care.
