KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall. We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site found in Plymouth and we are seeking a Planning Engineer. The role will suit a mix of project and site-based work, with some travelling, sometimes working autonomously to fulfill the role and planning requirements of the project.
Due to the site being a high-security military navy base, additional security checks will need to be made - BPSS/SC level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU & NATO member passports and have at least 5 years UK Residency can be considered for this role.

Your mission
* Develop and mature programme for construction of the PSF/GPF.
* Construct and maintain detailed work package programmes (in P6 - training will be provided)) including assisting in resource and cost loading for EV purposes.
* Assimilate and interpret information from current project documentation and instructed change.
* Input into construction techniques and buildability of construction methods
* Co-ordinate with commercial and project teams on all programme aspects relating to PSF/GPF work scope.
* Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into submissions for programmes and change events.
* Co-ordinate short term planning, using Aphex, with the project teams.
* Be part of ownership of the programme to drive work package delivery.
* Contribute, support, and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats.
* Contribute to collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams, and subcontractors.
* Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements
* Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.
* Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes and advise of quality / compliance where necessary.
* Follow business processes and systems of both joint venture partners.
* Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques
Who are we looking for?
The role typically requires the following; however, training and mentoring will be given:
* A qualification in civil engineering or construction to HND level or equivalent
* Previous experience and a sound knowledge of construction techniques, with a good commercial and contractual acumen.
* A Planning Engineer looking for next career step.
* Comfortable in client facing situations.
* A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes, along with managing sub-contractor programmes.
* A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.
* Experience and understanding of planning techniques.
* The ability to communicate effectively.
* Capability in the use of some standard planning software, (preferably P6) and 4D software – training/support will be available as and when required.
* Knowledgeable in use of design software (CAD and Civils 3D, Revit), able to read & interrogate 3D models.
* The ability to work to defined, often challenging, timescales.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships on projects and interface with operational teams.
* Commercial awareness
* Must be able to pass all National Security checks for MOD facilities.
