Overview
Applications are invited for the position of Senior Chemistry Research Laboratory Technician in the Molecular Imaging Chemistry Laboratory (MICL), a leading chemistry research facility specialising in the design, development and preparation of imaging probes for molecular imaging. The laboratory works closely with various clinical and research imaging groups at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, as well as with collaborators in Cambridge and elsewhere, such as Cancer Research UK.
Professor Franklin Aigbirhio is the director of the MICL and the Principal Investigator for the research team, which includes post‑doctoral researchers and students undertaking their MPhil and PhD research projects. The MICL complements the nearby Radiopharmaceutical Unit, which undertakes good manufacturing practice (GMP) for the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical imaging at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre. The MICL is located at the West Forvie Building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The successful candidate for this post will provide technical support to the research group to ensure the smooth running of the MICL. The role includes maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment and apparatus, support for researchers’ experimental work, stock control and ordering of consumables and equipment, ensuring health and safety requirements are adhered to, and undertaking relevant administration such as record keeping. The candidate will work closely with the support team at the Van Geest Centre for Brain Repair.
