About the Role We are seeking a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Barnet. This full-time position involves working in a Year 1 class, providing dedicated one-to-one support for a young girl with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The pupil requires consistent, nurturing support to help her regulate emotions and engage positively in class. You will play an essential role in her personal and educational development, while contributing to a calm and inclusive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with ASD, promoting emotional regulation and learning engagement. • Assist with toileting, changing, and personal care sensitively and appropriately. • Build trust and a positive relationship, encouraging confidence and independence. • Support the class teacher in implementing strategies tailored to the pupil’s needs. • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all children. The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting. • Confidence in supporting children with complex needs, including personal care. • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, child-centred approach. • Reliable and committed, with a genuine passion for making a difference.
