AI Engineering Lead – Airbus
Airbus seeks a senior AI Engineering Lead to architect and build critical AI solutions and to define the AI ecosystem for the Digital Domain in the commercial aircraft business.
Key Responsibilities
* Architect and integrate complex AI systems across the enterprise landscape (AWS, GCP, Palantir Foundry).
* Lead the design of large, interconnected AI systems, ensuring security, scalability and operational robustness.
* Drive the technical evolution toward autonomous Agentic Systems, creating workflows where AI agents reason, plan and execute complex business processes.
* Set high engineering standards for system design, focusing on observability, state management and error handling for production AI.
* Act as the primary UK interface for the Global AI Strategy, voicing company developments and strengthening the UK footprint.
* Serve as a “playing coach” to other AI engineers, fostering a culture of technical quality and autonomy while participating in code reviews and road‑block resolution.
* Contribute to development standards and reusable components that enable partner teams across the business to integrate state‑of‑the‑art AI capabilities.
* Manage and resolve complex technical and operational conflicts when deploying novel technology at scale.
* Take responsibility for delivery quality, ensuring adherence to standards for reliability and compliance.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven production experience in software or AI engineering with a track record of deploying and maintaining AI systems.
* Deep, hands‑on expertise with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt and context engineering; solid knowledge of classic ML (classification, regression, clustering).
* Expert proficiency in Python and modern software architecture (API design, microservices, containerisation / Kubernetes).
* Experience with AWS or GCP; familiarity with Palantir Foundry is a plus.
Preferred (Strategic Pluses)
* Experience designing or building AI Agents using frameworks such as LangGraph, ADK or proprietary implementations.
* Leadership mindset that balances engineering quality, speed and business impact; curiosity, innovation and pragmatic approach.
* Track record of growing team capabilities and elevating technical autonomy of peers.
