The Pembroke office of Welch LLP is looking for permanent full-time staff accountants. All levels of experience will be considered. The ideal candidates are individuals who are dynamic, have an entrepreneurial spirit, can adapt to an ever-changing environment, and have an aptitude for developing and maintaining good relationships with clients and staff. They must also be able to handle a variety of responsibilities in a professional manner.

Welch LLP is a mid-sized full-service firm of Chartered Professional Accountants with a staff of over 300 people in 12 offices throughout Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and the GTA – making Welch LLP the 14th largest accounting firm in Canada, helping clients since 1918.

Welch LLP is a dynamic organization with a friendly work atmosphere. As a member of the Welch team, you will be challenged with taking on increasingly important audit and accounting roles on client files in the public and not-for-profit sectors, as well as many private owner operated enterprises. You will work closely with all members of your team including senior managers and partners. Duties and Responsibilities:

* Under the supervision of the engagement senior, the individual is responsible for all aspects of the engagement including planning and execution of the engagement
* Preparation of financial statements and related working paper files (audits, reviews, compilations) in CaseWare
* Summarize client information on accounting packages or spreadsheets
* Prepare personal and corporate tax returns


Qualifications:

* Currently has or is working towards a business diploma or degree and is interested in pursuing a career in accounting
* Strong communication skills: ability to listen to others, ask questions, and express points of view
* Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with clients and co-workers
* An ability to learn new computer software
* Initiative, willingness, and ability to accept responsibility
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Possess decisiveness, good judgment and common sense
* Ability to recognize and analyze problems, propose sound alternatives and conclusions
