Service Manager - Band 8a

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Barts Centre for Reproductive Health which provides primary and tertiary care to fertility patients in NEL.

The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that services are efficiently and effectively run at the St Bartholomew’s site. This will be achieved through excellent human resources, financial and operational management.

Main duties of the job

· Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for relevant services within Theatres and Peri-operative Medicine, assisting the Clinical Directors, Lead Clinicians and General Manager to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
· Take forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.
· Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met.
· Problem solve as appropriate, and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues. To be a key member of the Senior Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.

1. Ability to analyse and utilise complex information, review options and make recommendations to senior managers
2. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences, including chairing of meetings.

5. Communicates the vision and brings it alive – describes what the future needs to look like in terms of service improvement and modernisation.

25. Recognised leadership and management qualification.
26. Evidence of continuing education and development.

Desirable criteria

30. Educated to relevant Degree level or working towards e.g. Degree in Numerate or information systems, Masters in Health management or Core Academic Subject.
31. Knowledge and awareness of issues affecting NHS acute hospitals
32. Experience of managing large groups of staff
