About Us
We are a specialist provider of project-specific vessel technical operating manuals to the global shipping industry. Due to an increase in production volume, we are looking to recruit a new member to join our Print Room team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a high-quality, detail-focused production environment within a supportive and friendly team.
The Role
As a Print Room Assistant / Pre-Press Operative, you will support the preparation and delivery of our high-standard technical manuals. Your role will involve both digital and physical production processes, from final checks and edits to printing, binding, and dispatch.
This is a hands-on role that involves both computer-based tasks and physical work. Full training will be provided, but a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach, and a willingness to work as part of a team are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Process technical operating manuals through a quality control checklist, including:
* Proofing for accuracy and consistency
* Table of contents alignment
* Verification of illustration links and formatting
* Final editing and PDF generation
* Prepare and print hard copies of manuals (limited print runs)
* Assemble printed manuals into binders, package and prepare for dispatch
* Create digital versions (PDFs with hyperlinks) for electronic distribution
* Maintain tidy, well-organized workstations and printing equipment
* Collaborate with the production team to ensure timelines and quality standards are met
Ideal Candidate
* Experience in a print pre-press or print room environment is beneficial but not essential
* Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat Reader, or similar desktop publishing tools is a plus
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
* Good organisational skills and ability to follow detailed procedures
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
* Reliable, proactive, and adaptable
