Research Director, Quantitative: FTC (maternity cover), 4 or 5 days/week

As a Research Director, you will act as the client and project lead on quantitative research studies for our most significant clients, delivering strategic research and actionable insights. This role is a 12-month maternity cover and focuses on managing our key accounts in the media and advertising sectors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in MTM's commercial success and upholding our reputation for exceptional quality.
For those with an interest and experience in line management, there is also an opportunity for this role to include line management responsibilities and/or additional team pastoral responsibilities.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary Project Director and strategic advisor for key clients, ensuring an exceptional client experience and maintaining strong, trusted relationships.
* Maintain and grow strong relationships with all suppliers, ensuring high-quality service delivery for all projects.
* Ensure all client deliverables communicate a clear, consistent, and impactful narrative, with commercially relevant recommendations.
Commercial & Business Development
* Take full responsibility for the profitability of your projects, including pipeline management, invoicing, and budget phasing.
* Drive new business development within key accounts and generate new leads to convert to revenue through high-quality proposals.
* Contribute significantly to the company’s overall sales targets.
* Lead and mentor a project team, providing constructive feedback and hands-on coaching to ensure high-quality standards are consistently met.
* Contribute to a positive and collaborative team and company culture.
* Participate in team resourcing and planning discussions, balancing client needs with staff workload and development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Lead and collaborate on hybrid, multidisciplinary projects, liaising with other MTM teams to ensure a consistent narrative across all deliverables.
* Work closely with the Managing Partner to ensure all strategic objectives are met.
* Proven experience in a senior leadership or management role within a research agency, specifically within a quantitative team.
* Demonstrable expertise in managing high-value, key client accounts.
* A strong passion for and deep understanding of the media and advertising industries.
* High level of commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business opportunities.
* Strong analytical skills with a hands-on approach to project management.
* Exceptional communication skills with the ability to tell a clear and impactful story from research data.
* Proficiency in data analysis and presentation software, with advanced skills in Q, MS Office and Google Workspace and Google Slides.
* Demonstrable understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct.
