We are recruiting qualified, innovative and dynamic Sessional Tutors and Lecturers to join our excellent team at the Macbeth Centre to teach courses in‑person (occasionally online) to adult learners. If you are successful, you will be added to our Tutor Pool so our Programme Managers can discuss course development with you. In some subjects, this will be for an immediate start.
Requirements
* Job title: Sessional Tutors and Lecturers (Sessional Tutor)
* Pay: £29.64 – £36.03 per hour (preparation time included)
* Location: Macbeth Centre, Macbeth Street, London W6 9JJ or various off‑site venues in Hammersmith & Fulham.
* Hours: Flexible / negotiated – daytimes, evenings, weekends available
* Contract: Casual / sessional
* DBS check: Enhanced

* Applicants must hold a recognised teaching qualification suitable for Further Education or Adult Learning or be working towards one.
* Applicants should be confident in maintaining accurate course documentation in line with awarding body, funding body and Ofsted requirements.
* Tutors are expected to complete all relevant teaching and learning documentation, including schemes of work, lesson plans and learner progress records.
* Attendance at departmental meetings and participation in ongoing quality assurance processes is also required.
* Degree or equivalent in subject specialism (Level 4 minimum).
* Teaching qualification: Level 4 preferred (Level 3 acceptable if willing to train).
* Minimum 1 year’s teaching experience.
* Industry or professional experience where relevant.
Subject Tutor Types
Math Tutor (Functional Skills/ Adult Numeracy)
Qualified to teach Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level–Level 2), experience with adult learners, delivers practical confidence‑building lessons, familiar with curricula frameworks such as City & Guilds, Pearson, NCFE and skilled in inclusive teaching strategies.
British Sign Language (BSL) Tutor
Qualified BSL tutor (Level 3+, ideally Level 6), teaches Beginners to Level 2, knowledgeable of Deaf culture and inclusive teaching practices.
Psychology Tutor
Degree or equivalent in psychology, experience teaching topics such as human behaviour, cognition and mental health in FE or adult education, delivers engaging lessons using varied resources.
History Tutor
Strong knowledge of historical periods, events and themes; experience teaching in FE or adult education; delivers engaging sessions that promote discussion and critical thinking.
Counselling Tutor
Qualified counsellor with teaching experience from beginners to Level 3 in FE or adult education, knowledge of theories, ethics and skills, uses adult learning methods and varied resources.
General Fitness Tutor (60+)
Delivers low‑impact fitness classes for senior adults, knowledge of age‑appropriate modifications and mobility support.
Yoga Tutor (60+)
Qualified instructor with senior adult teaching experience, adapts poses for mobility, joint care and balance, skilled in breathwork and relaxation.
Pilates Tutor (60+)
Certified instructor with senior fitness experience, focus on core strength, posture and flexibility, modifies exercises for varied ability levels.
Tai Chi Tutor
Teaches Tai Chi for health and wellbeing (Beginners to Improvers), knowledge of gentle movement, balance and mindfulness, supports learners with mobility or balance challenges.
Qi Gong Tutor
Skilled in Qi Gong for relaxation, energy flow and joint health, experience with senior adults in adult education, leads calming, accessible sessions.
Cardiac Rehab Tutor
Qualified in cardiac rehab or exercise referral, experience with heart conditions/post‑recovery, designs safe, progressive programs.
Feldenkrais Tutor
Certified practitioner, teaches gentle movement for pain/mobility issues.
Circuit Training Tutor (60+)
Designs low‑impact circuits for seniors, focus on strength, balance, endurance, adapts for varied fitness levels.
Back Exercise Tutor
Specialised in spinal health and posture, experience with seniors and back issues, promotes safe movement and injury prevention.
Senior Total Body Workout Tutor
Delivers full‑body fitness for 60+, focus on strength, flexibility, balance, cardio, creates inclusive, motivating sessions.
Dance Tutor (60+)
Teaches dance styles suitable for senior adults (e.g. line dance, ballroom, folk) for beginners to advanced, emphasises rhythm, fun and social interaction, adapts for mobility levels.
Zumba Gold Tutor
Certified Zumba Gold instructor, delivers fun low‑impact dance fitness, creates energetic, inclusive classes.
French Language Tutor
Fluent speaker with teaching experience (Beginners to Advanced) in FE or adult education, skilled in communicative approach, delivers engaging culturally rich lessons.
Spanish Language Tutor
Fluent speaker with teaching experience (Beginners to Advanced) in FE or adult education, skilled in adult learning methods, delivers engaging culturally rich lessons using varied resources.
Japanese Language Tutor
Proficient in spoken and written Japanese, teaching experience (Beginners to Intermediate) in FE or adult education, skilled in adult learning methods, delivers engaging culturally rich lessons using varied resources.
Media and Technical Tutors
Media Production Tutor
Experience in audio, video and digital storytelling; knowledge of pre/post‑production workflows; supports learners in short media projects.
Video Editing Tutor
Skilled in editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut); experience structuring content for platforms; teaches transitions, effects and audio syncing.
Social Media Filming & Editing Tutor
Knowledge of short‑form content (TikTok, YouTube, etc.); experience with mobile/DSLR filming; teaches editing for engagement and platform optimisation.
Drawing & Painting Tutor
Skilled in traditional and modern techniques; experience teaching adults; supports personal style and portfolio development.
Pattern Cutting & Clothes Making Tutor
Skilled in garment construction and sewing; fashion/tailoring experience; teaches beginners and supports creative projects.
Woodwork & Furniture Making Tutor
Skilled in carpentry and joinery; safe use of hand/power tools; guides learners from design to completion.
Cyber Security Tutor
Expertise in IT security and cyber threats; adult/vocational teaching experience; knowledge of certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, CISSP).
Business Start‑Up Tutor
Background in entrepreneurship or small business management; teaches planning, marketing, finance, legal setup; supports adult learners and community enterprise.
Social Media & Digital Marketing Tutor
Qualified in marketing or related field; certifications in digital marketing platforms (Google Ads, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot, Hootsuite) or up‑to‑date knowledge; experience with campaigns, SEO, content, analytics; teaches trends, tools (Canva, Mailchimp, Google Ads).
Web Development Tutor (WordPress)
Skilled in WordPress CMS, themes and plugins; experience with HTML, CSS, basic PHP; builds responsive, SEO‑optimised sites.
Software Development Tutor
Skilled in Python or similar language; teaches clean code, algorithms, debugging, Git; experience with IDEs and command‑line toolsp>
Health & Social Care Tutor
Qualified at Level 3+ and in workplace assessment; experience in care settings (NHS, residential, domiciliary); knowledge of safeguarding and person‑centred care.
Teaching Assistant Tutor
Experience in schools/colleges; knowledge of SEN and classroom strategies; qualified at Level 3 and as Assessor (A1/CAVA).
