The Haematology Department provides a comprehensive service. This comprises all Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, and Haemostasis and Thrombosis referrals for investigation, diagnosis and treatment. There is additional responsibility for investigation and advice on the management of patients with Haematological problems from all other areas. Anticoagulant monitoring is managed within Primary Care. All bone marrow aspirates and trephines are reported by the HMDS Nottingham. Inpatient Chemotherapy is only administered at Pilgrim Hospital and Lincoln County Hospital; however, outpatient services are provided at all three sites, which includes Grantham. The Trusts Cancer Services are part of the East Midlands Cancer Alliance. Intensive chemotherapy for acute Leukaemia and other patients is only provided in Lincoln. All Lymphoma patients are managed by the Haematologists. Radiotherapy patients are managed by Consultant Clinical Oncologists, who form part of the Lymphoma and Myeloma MDT. Patients from the Grantham area requiring Clinical Oncology input are seen in Lincoln or Boston. Bone Marrow Transplant Services are provided at Nottingham City Hospital. Children with Bleeding disorders requiring inpatient care are admitted under the Paediatricians and advice is provided by the Haematologists as required. Those requiring outpatient care are managed jointly by the Haematologists and Paediatricians. This does not include Paediatric Haemato-Oncology which is provided by Nottingham for the Lincoln area and Nottingham for the Boston and Grantham areas and is out with the remit of these posts.
