Job Purpose
Responsible for the lighting planned maintenance and emergency repair work in approximately 100+ M&S stores to pre-determined standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy.
Key Accountabilities
1. To comply with the company Health and Safety Policy regulations.
2. To work with company and M&S colleagues to ensure laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
3. To ensure that all members of the lighting team are aware of and understand company practices and procedures relating to lighting installations.
4. Ensure all mandatory training evolve modules and training are completed.
5. To respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.
6. To complete the PPM schedules within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid-down procedures.
7. To carry out all tasks assigned within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client.
8. To identify non-repairable faults in lighting equipment and promptly advise the Area Maintenance Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.
9. To advise the store manager of any repair and maintenance issues relating to lighting that are likely to affect the smooth running of the store.
10. Monitor and update the Mercury system including live job updates.
11. To ensure all tools and equipment necessary (as per company tool list) to complete maintenance and repairs are available and serviceable at all times.
12. To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal and lighting job skills keep pace with technical development.
13. To carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the Area Maintenance Manager.
14. To represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationships with City and M&S colleagues.
15. To supervise, monitor and control the work, attendance and timekeeping of the Lighting Mate(s) to ensure quality standards and efficiency are maintained.
16. To assist lighting technicians in other areas when requested to do so by the Area Manager.
17. To attend cell meetings as and when required.
18. To comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the City Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
19. Educated to GCSE / Standard Grade level Professional/Academic/ Vocational Qualifications
20. NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance
21. City and Guilds 2382 17th Edition or 18th Edition(new).
22. Electrical - Edition Wiring Regulations is essential.
23. Basic installation of lighting in stores, e.g. cable glands, conduits, track, light density and spread, cable types and loadings is essential.
24. Ability to maintain/repair the full range of lighting equipment in an M&S store to recognised standards, e.g. filament, fluorescent, mercury vapour, sodium, low voltage, car park
25. Ability to locate electrical feeds to lighting systems and follow safe isolation procedures pre and post works
26. Ability to mark up distribution legends within supply boards if required
27. Ability to work at heights and competent in the use of steps and ladders.
28. Ability to distinguish colours to the standard required for lighting.
29. Full current driving licence
30. Degree of flexibility required. Will be required to stay away from home occasionally.
31. Willingness to work flexible hours. Night shift may be required.
32. PC literate, ability to work from and operate via ipad / tablet for recording of tasks • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
