This is a Monday to Friday role, working 8 am to 4 pm with the half an hour unpaid lunch time break. You will work an on call rota week which will include working 8 am to 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday of this week for which you will receive one day off in lieu. This role also comes with 25 days annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays and the salary of £53033. The E & I Technician will be accountable for ensuring their area of responsibility operates at a high level of availability though provision of effective planned preventative and remedial maintenance. To attend morning MDI SQDC meetings and lead and co-ordinate investigations, identify root cause and implement solutions to any problems occurring within the area of responsibility. Engage in the development and failure reduction activities, driving route cause and A3 problem solving. Other duties include; Investigate and rectify plant problems of an electrical, electronic, or software related nature. Devise and develop robust planned maintenance and inspection schedules and ensure that they are implemented to meet statutory, quality and engineering requirements. This must be achieved in line with the maintenance and reliability framework, utilising the relevant processes in order to optimise and improve the plant’s availability for production. Ensure that software is backed up and plant electrical documentation is available and kept up to date. Prepare disaster recovery procedures for critical plant and equipment Responsible for compliance regarding thorough /conscientious reporting of plant breakdowns and history to demonstrate that statutory obligations are being fulfilled. Ensure collection of data/operating instructions of new plant and inclusion of maintenance requirements in SAP maintenance system. To ensure safety standards in the Mill are maintained and safe working procedures are implemented and adhered. To clearly implement and demonstrate the required approach to software management and process safety requirements in the area of responsibility, including the Management of Change. Develop, prepare and submit plant improvement proposals and maintenance schedules, with responsibility for justification, and full implementation, in order to meet the programme of the production units within agreed costs and timescales. Organise and control contractors providing both on and off site maintenance and services, refurbishment and modifications. Ensure that such contractors are competent and are adequately informed of the job requirements; arrange permits to work, RAMs are in place and to ensure such requirements are adhered to. Actively participate and be a key contributing member within an area based operational team striving to improve operational performance. To monitor KPIs for the area of responsibility, identify any deviation from target and implement corrective action at the appropriate level. To perform the role of standby technician following a weekend rota-working pattern. The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will be accountable for ensuring their area of responsibility operates at a high level of availability though provision of effective planned preventative and remedial maintenance. The candidate will be a highly motivated with excellent communication and team working skills and a flexible approach to work with previous experience within a similar continuous process environment. The candidate will demonstrate previous experience, sound knowledge and understanding of safe working practices on low and medium voltage systems, AC/DC motor drives, PLC programming languages along with knowledge of SCADA/MMI systems. The area based E&I Technician will be an active participant of the morning MDI SQDC meetings, leading and co-ordinating investigations, identifying root causes and implement solutions to any problems occurring within the area of responsibility. Engage in the development and failure reduction activities, driving route cause and A3 problem solving. The successful candidate must keep abreast of technical developments to ensure improvements to both engineering and operational performance. The E&I Technician must have the technical, operational and practical experience to make immediate, considered judgements in breakdown situations, paying due regard to the safety and financial implications. This is against a background of continual pressure to satisfy and improve production requirements all of which could lead to out of hours working. The job holder will have a strong technical knowledge of electrical, process control and systems engineering with a comprehensive understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems together with a good understanding of mechanical engineering principals. The candidate will demonstrate previous experience, sound knowledge and understanding of low and medium voltage systems, AC/DC motor drives, PLC programming languages along with knowledge of SCADA/MMI systems. The candidate will have at least 5 years experience and must hold one of the following qualifications Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent HND or HNC The candidate should have a sound working knowledge of Siemens PLC’s and WinCC. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and the application of continuous process environment.
