Child Health at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer the opportunity to join as a Bank Nurse for Child Health. As an integrated service we pride ourselves in delivering health care at the point of need and are one of the few such organised services within the UK.

We have opportunities for working across all areas of Child Health: one of the acute units, G2 and Northbrook; Day Assessment Units, Charlie’s Day Unit and Sophie’s Place, and also the neonatal units. These are across the two sites of Winchester and Basingstoke.

At HHFT, we offer a full and comprehensive orientation package and professional support suited to your individual needs, alongside ongoing support from the Clinical Education Team.

Main duties of the job

To support the team in the delivery of the service, this includes:

1. High standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, experience and the patientjourney.
2. Developing own clinical practice, knowledge, skills andexperience.
3. Acting as a good rolemodel
4. Supporting the team in ensuring that clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements areachieved.
5. To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills where factors may be conflicting, requiring analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment or discharge planningcheck.
6. To develop clinically reasoned treatment, action, and discharge plans and to undertake and evaluate treatment.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

13. Qualified Nurse (Diploma / Degree)
14. Registered Nurse (Part 1, 8, 12 or 15)
15. Professional UK registration e.g. NMC
16. Computer Literate

Desirable criteria

17. Registered Children’s Nurse
18. Evidence of recent study
19. Previous qualification or experience in relevant speciality

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

20. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
21. Completed clinical placements in a variety of areas
22. Knowledge of the management of in-patients and outpatients including evidence-based strategies.
23. Knowledge and experience of a range of approaches to the management of patients utilising clinical reasoning.
24. Multidisciplinary team working
25. Understanding of Health Environment policies and legislation including Clinical, HR, E&D, Governance
26. Adherence to current statutory requirements, standards and regulations.
27. Ability to demonstrate the required behaviour in keeping with the Trust values.
28. Able to present information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner
29. Good communication skills to communicate complex, sensitive, or confidential information in an appropriate manner.
30. Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession.
31. Show evidence of being self-motivated and motivate others.
32. Be able to demonstrate initiative.
33. Have a flexible approach
34. Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate.
35. Ability to work with the multi/interdisciplinary team and set goals.

39. Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort frequently throughout the working day and to carry out concurrent activities.
40. Ability to cope with working in a stressful and unpredictable environment
41. Evidence of clinical skills appropriate to Child Health / Neonatal care.
42. Applies a good understanding of Equality & Diversity in all areas of work.
43. Should be willing to work flexible hours across all areas of Child Health as per requirement.

Desirable criteria

44. Experience of staff supervision
45. Awareness of local and national agenda within the speciality
46. Customer service experience i.e. dealing with complaints.
